Berkeley, Alameda, San Leandro, & Castro Valley
Living in The Bay Area for over 20 years, what I appreciate most are the hidden jewels that surround us...often in plain site. I call them "Hidden Cities". Great communities where leafy green streets, July 4th parades, sought after public schools, and legendary coffee houses and restaurants are abundant and give you that sought after small town feeling - - close to major cities like SF and Oakland.
City of Berkeley... Home to the University of California Berkeley (Go Bears!!) and the birthplace of Peet's Coffee and California Cuisine. Berkeley is a sought after location for Buyers seeking "character" family homes in walkable neighborhoods, close to shops, cafes, and yelp-worthy restaurants; plus award winning local arts and theater scene. With it's close and easy access to San Francisco and Oakland, and multiple BART stations, Berekley's appeal is as strong as the coffee.
City of Alameda .... Just imagine, a warm July afternoon and you and your 20,000 best friends setting up chairs along the 3.25 miles route of the annual July 4th Parade. Alameda is our favorite "small town". Beautiful victorians to be found on the “main island” and newer construction on Bay Farm. Abundant shopping, cafes, restaurants on Park and Weber Streets, plus large national retailers on the west and south sides of your private Mayberry.
City of San Leandro... It's the neighborhoods. Walk your dog, your cat, your baby stroller or yourself. It's that secret "go-to" for walkable character filled neighborhoods and laid back suburban feel. Super cute family-owned restaurants and cafes - - plus an outlet mall to get your latest Nike running shoe.
Castro Valley.... Once (a long time ago) quiet and sleepy, Castro Valley now draws people seeking solid public schools, tree-lined streets, outdoor recreation for kids and adults, shopping and a mix of newer construction and 1950’s ranchers. Great micro-climate...with warm summer nights and just next door to San Leandro and Hayward.
